The Burlington Potters' Guild was founded in 1969 and currently counts 100 members ranging in skill level from novice to professional. The guild was created to allow ceramic artists to convene and share resources in a cooperative environment conducive to the advancement of ceramic art.
Guild members have at their disposal one of the best ceramic studios in Canada. Located in the Burlington Art Centre, this large facility boasts 12 pottery wheels, 6 electric kilns, a new gas kiln in addition to a fully equipped raku and smoke firing shed. Benefits of membership include use of fully equipped studio, monthly demonstrations, library resources, glazes, newsletter, sale opportunities, and discounts.
The guild is a not-for-profit organization financially sustained through its membership fees, fundraisers, grants and the generosity and support of various foundations and private donations. An Executive Committee, elected by the membership, is responsible for the operation, management, and planning of the Guild. Through the participation, enthusiasm and contributions of its members, the guild has continued to thrive for over 40 years.
